Sandwich Rolls
Here is the easiest method for making your own sandwich rolls at home, and are better than they are better than the ones from the supermarket. You can make them the exact size and shape you want. To gets started with the dough, add a packet of dry yeast to the bowl of a stand mixer and to that add warm water and give that a mix. Give the yeast about ten minutes to activate but if you are sung activated yeast then you will proceed with the next process.
Add in all-purpose or bread flour to the activated yeast mixture then add salt and on a stand mixer, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until you have a nice smooth, soft dough. To know your dough is well kneaded, your dough should pull away easily from the sides of the bowl. Roll it into a smooth bowl and place it to an oiled dough, cover it and transfer it to a warm place and let the dough rise for about an hour to an hour and a half.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and divideth dough into half then quarters to make about six rolls. Using your hands in a circular motion, roll the dough into a smooth ball then cover them with a clean dry cloth and let them rise for 15 minutes before starting to shape the rolls. Take one of the balls and press it out into a sort of oval rectangle then flatten it out about 6 or 7 inches wide then roll it up nice and tightly from the large edge to the other, roll them to get the sandwich rolls signature shape.
Transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet then cover them and let them rise for one hour or until doubled. Once the dough has risen, cut a slash down the length with a very sharp knife, the slash will allow the crust to kind of expand as the bread is baking which will give the rolls a proper texture. Also, in a spray bottle, you will give the dough a misting all over which will help form the crust, you can also brush them with egg wash, sprinkle the top with sugar then to transfer to the center of a 450 degrees oven and bake them for about 20 minutes.
Let the rolls cool to room temperature on a wire rack once they are pout of the oven before serving them. Your rolls will have a gorgeous thin chewy crust surrounded with a beautifully light and airy inside.
