Yogurt Scones
Making these yoghurt scones is incredibly easy and requires no oil. These scones are not just healthy but also incredibly tasty, with a softness akin to bread. Firstly, gather 180 grams of thick yoghurt, 25 grams of sugar, 3 grams of yeast, 2 grams of baking powder, and approximately 280 grams of plain flour. In a bowl, combine the yoghurt, sugar, and yeast. Mix thoroughly until the yeast is completely dissolved.
In another bowl, mix the plain flour and baking powder evenly. Gradually pour this mixture into the yoghurt blend, stirring continuously until it forms a soft, cottony dough. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and soft. There’s no need to wait for it to rise; you can proceed immediately. Divide the dough into ten equal small portions. Shape each portion into a round ball and gently press it into a small cake shape using a smooth wooden surface.
You can use your hands if you don’t have a wooden plate, but the surface won’t be as smooth. Cover the shaped dough with plastic wrap and let it rise until it expands in size. Gently press the surface to allow it to rise slightly. No oil is needed for cooking these scones. Place them one by one in a pan over low heat. Remember to keep the heat low throughout the cooking process.
Cover the pan and cook the scones until one side is set and changes colour. Flip them over frequently to ensure both sides turn golden brown evenly. The low heat and frequent flipping are essential for even cooking.
Once both sides are brown and the scones are fully cooked, they are ready to be served. These yoghurt scones are not just healthy and oil-free but also incredibly delicious. Their softness is comparable to that of bread, making them a delightful treat.
