Today we are going to learn how to make homemade pancakes and sausage on a stick which is kind of a breakfast corndog-the corn and dog part. You will need the following ingredient; little sizzler, pancake mix, corndog sticks, oil for frying, and maple syrup so let’s get started. To start off use the Hormel little sizzlers they are maple-flavored sausage legs and get your cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat and place your sizzlers right into your skillet and put them to cook until they are nice and brown on all sides and are cooked all the way through.

Once they are nice and brown all the sides add a little bit of water into your cast iron skillet and swirl that around and that little burst of steam will help to cook the inside of the sausage now once your sausages are cooked all through remove them from your pan and place them on a plate that has been lined with a paper towel. Once your sausages are done put them onto fresh paper towels and take a couple of fresh paper towels and put them on top and blot them very well making sure you get all of that grease out of those sausages.

Any extra grease in these will end up making the pancakes that surround the sausage-like kind of greasy and you do not want greasy pancakes wrapped around your sausages. Take one of the craft sticks or corn dog sticks or Popsicle sticks or skewers or whatever kind of wooden stick you have. Grab one of your sausages and hook the stick right up through the middle of it now you can decide to put your stick all the way until they start coming out the top it is really personal preference.

The reason to put the stick all the way through is that so they fit into your pan. Next, make up some pancake batter. In a bowl add in your flour, eggs, and buttermilk and whisk it using a wire whisk until no lumps remain. Make a relatively thick batter so hold back some buttermilk and add when necessary.

Next, clean your cast-iron skillet and add in some vegetable oil and bring that up to 350F over medium-high heat. To actually make these take one of your sausages and dip it in the pancake batter and let the excess drip off and carefully place it into your hot oil and fry it for about 45 seconds to 1 minute they do not take that long to cook.

About halfway through flip them over to make sure they are evenly cooking on all sides and once they are nice and golden brown go ahead and remove them off to a plate lined with more paper towels let them drip completely then go ahead and serve them with maple syrup and enjoy.
