This yellow cake is similar to a vanilla cake but it has a richer, more yellow colour. This is usually the result of additional egg yolks and using more butter. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This recipe can be made in just one bowl, add three cups of cake flour, two and a fourth cups of granulated sugar, one and a half teaspoons of baking powder, half a teaspoon of baking soda and three-fourth teaspoons of table salt.

Whisk everything together until the ingredients are nicely combined then add butter. Melt 12 tablespoons of unsalted butter and let it cool before adding it to the dry ingredients. You will also add half a cup of vegetable oil then mix the ingredients with a hand whisk just until everything is completely combined.

In a separate small bowl, break in two large eggs and add two egg yolks then stir everything together until well incorporated in the batter. Add two teaspoons of vanilla and mix it in for about a minute. Add one cup of sour cream and beat it in then finally add a cup of whole milk slowly while mixing the batter on low speed.

Finish the mixing with a spatula just to make sure everything is well combined with no lumps. Prepare your baking pan by spraying and lining the bottom with parchment paper then pour the batter then into the 350F preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Once baked and out of the oven, invert it on a wire rack and let it cool down.

You can serve this cake plain the way it is or make a chocolate ganache and frost the cake. Either way, you are going to enjoy this beautifully moist and sweet yellow cake.
