This delicious chocolate bun recipe is simply for the chocoholics out there who will use any excuse to choc things up. You will start with a super soft, lush dough, which is spiked with a little cocoa and a lot of cardamoms, then kneaded in more chocolate chips. Divided the dough into 12 buns, and let them rise again, then gave them a quick score before popping them in the oven to partially bake.

Add milk and butter to a bowl. Heat in the microwave until the milk is lukewarm, and the butter is almost melted. Add the yeast then mix it together until the yeast is dissolved. Chop your chocolate coarsely then the chocolate to the batter and mix everything well. Add the flour at a time and mix after each addition until the flour is finished.

Mix together until you have a nice and soft dough. Let the dough rest and rise for approx. double its original size. Straw a little flour on the table and knead the dough shortly then divide it into an equal number of buns. Make the buns around and put them on a baking tray then cover them and let them rise for approximately 45 minutes.

Bake the buns for 9 minutes in a 175 degrees hot oven. Once baked, they are ready for severing. You can serve them with butter – that just makes them a bit better. They should preferably be eaten on the same day you make them.
