Butter Bundt Cake
Whether for a cosy family gathering or a special event, its golden colour, delicate crumb, and rich flavour make it the perfect dessert for any occasion. This easy-to-make recipe is a must-try for both beginners and seasoned bakers, providing a balance of buttery goodness and a hint of sweetness that melts in your mouth.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 10-inch bundt pan with butter and dust it lightly with flour to prevent the cake from sticking. This step is key to achieving that perfect bundt shape. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This ensures the cake rises evenly and has a fluffy texture.
Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed. Continue for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy. This aerates the butter, creating a lighter cake. Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. After the eggs are mixed in, add the vanilla extract and beat until combined.
Reduce the mixer speed to low and alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter-sugar mixture. Start with one-third of the flour mixture, followed by half of the buttermilk, then repeat, ending with the flour. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the batter, which can make the cake dense. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared bundt pan.
Smooth the top with a spatula, then tap the pan on the counter a couple of times to eliminate air bubbles. Place it in the preheated oven and bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Once the cake is baked to perfection, allow it to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, carefully invert the bundt pan onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Letting it cool in the pan prevents breakage and ensures the cake holds its shape. For an extra touch, prepare a simple glaze using 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk. Drizzle over the cooled cake for a glossy finish and a sweet addition to each bite. This buttery bundt cake is an irresistible treat that works for any occasion. Serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or enjoy it on its own with a cup of tea or coffee.
