This delicious chocolate chip cake is made with a fluffy and moist vanilla cake filled with chocolate chips throughout. you will start by creaming your butter and sugar together in a stand mixer bowl of a big bowl. You want to cream it for a couple of minutes until very light and fluffy then on low speed add eggs one at a time while beating on low speed after each addition.

For flavouring, add vanilla and beat it in for about two minutes, your batter will be very fluffy and if you are using a stand mixer, make sure you scrape the sides of the bowl. For the dry ingredients, in another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder, and make sure the dry ingredients are well mixed in.

You will start adding the dry ingredients to the batter alternating with sour cream until all the dry ingredients are moistened then add the chocolate chips into the batter. You will need a 9 by 5 loaf pan that is greased and lined with parchment paper then pour in the batter, and add a few chocolate chips to the top of the batter.

Have your oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, For baking, everyone’s oven is a little different so you will start checking your cake after 45 minutes and that will give you a gauge of how much more time you will need or if your cake is baked at that time. Do the toothpick test once the cake is out of the oven and when it comes out clean your cake is well baked.

Let your cake cool for 15 minutes then remove the cake onto a wire rack and let it cool completely before slicing and serving the cake. This is a very nice cake, very easy to bake for the weekend, bake it and enjoy.

Ingredients;

  • 1 stick butter(110grams/ 1/2 cup) softened
  • 1 cup (200 grams/ 7.1Oz) of sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (240 grams/ 8.4Oz) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cups (120ml/ 4.2Oz) sour cream
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) of semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions;

  1. In a stand mixer or hand mixer, add butter and sugar until light and fluffy about 3 minutes add eggs one at a time. Continue to beat for 3 minutes until very fluffy.
  2. Beat in Vanilla. Combine dry ingredients, and add to creamed mixture alternating with sour cream beating well after each addition. Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Pour into a loaf greased loaf pan and top the batter with more chocolate chips.
  4. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in a loaf pan then place on a cooling rack.
